Conference Awards

This year, when you submit an abstract, you will indicate whether you wish to be considered for a conference award - all in one step!

Read below to find out which awards are available, and how the selection process will work.

For Oral Presentations:

1 PhD student will be awarded $100

1 MA student will be awarded $100

Everyone who submits an abstract to present in the 15-minute oral presentation format will be considered for an award (as long as they click 'yes' when responding to the awards question on the submission form). Your submission will be anonymized, then will be sent to our review panel. Our review panel consists of graduate students in our faculty, who will complete a reviewer form (with a rubric designed to ensure fair appraisal  of each submission). The abstracts that receive the highest scores on the rubric from our review panel will be selected as finalists. During the conference, a team of  adjudicators will evaluate the finalists' presentations to identify the winning presenter.  Winners will be announced during the closing ceremony.

For Poster Presentations:

1 student will be awarded $100

Everyone who submits an abstract to present a poster will be considered for an award (as long as they click 'yes' when responding to the awards question on the submission form). If accepted, your poster itself (not your abstract) will be appraised by an adjudicator during the conference. The winner will be announced during the closing ceremony.

For the Fast 5 Competition:

1st Place will be awarded $100

Everyone who submits an abstract to present in the Fast 5 competition will be automatically considered for an award. If accepted, your 5-minute presentation (not your abstract) will be appraised by a professor adjudicator during the conference.

The winner will be announced during the closing ceremony.

At this time, no awards are available for Panel formats.
